    Travel

    Iraklion International Airport is served several times a day by 40 min. flights from Athens. There also are direct charter flights from major European cities. There is a daily ferry-boat service from Piraeus to Iraklion and to Aghios Nikolaos. In high season, ferry-boat service from Ancona to Iraklion and from Thessaloniki to Iraklion as well as other Cyclades and Dodekanese islands.

    Driving Instructions

    Straight from the Iraklion International Airport exit, follow signs for Aghios Nikolaos (New Road). Follow the main road through Hersonissos and Malia. Just before reaching Aghios Nikolaos, turn left at the junction with traffic lights for Elounda. After about 7 km, going downhill towards Elounda, turn right for porto elounda DE LUXE RESORT.

    Mediterranean climate with mildly wet winter and a dry warm summer. Heat is rarely excessive thanks to the persistent northerly winds during most of the summer. The Gulf of Mirabello has a microclimate between November and March particularly, with average temperatures never below 14o C.

    Leather-goods, pottery, copies of Byzantine icons and Minoan jewellery and hand-made lace. Local products such as olive oil, raki, wine, honey and yoghurt. Most shops are open on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a break for lunch.
